Recognizing a need for greater competition in the wood framed structural connector market a group of former commercial engineered wood technical sales and marketing professional form Intact, LLC. Intact's goal is to bring "Greater than Equal" to the structural wood connector equation. By forming a strategic alliance with several top level manufacturers of structural connector components, Intact will become a cost effective leader in this nearly single sourced dominated construction supply market sector. In its present state the market is controlled by a "bundling" of single source supplied products leveraged through a massive network of dealers. Intact will seek to match this product bundle, enabling the end user to have a competitive choice. Intact is lead by its President and CEO Anthony Masolini, and has offices across the United States.

Fun Q & A
Q. When is "N/A" too hard to write?
A. When it belongs under the column heading "Code Ref."
Have you noticed that in a popular wood construction connector catalog the number "170" was used in lieu of the letters N/A, even within the same product series, when listing Code References in product charts? Have you ever asked for the rationale behind lighter load parts in the same series having an ICC report while heavier load carrying parts do not? Could sales volume be the impetus?
Q. When do you need to address shrinkage and settling compensation?
A. When you design a Multi-Story wood framed building.
Have you received a mixed message from a large wood connector company.... do you use their traditional straps and hold downs on multi-story wood framed projects or do you use their rod anchor down system with shrinkage/settling compensation devices? How is shrinkage compensation important to one building, while not important to another, when both will shrink and settle? Could the answer lie in the differences in regional competition? The multi-story wood framed building does not know the make up of regional competition, it just shrinks.
